Rakiura Distilling Company was founded by three blokes who call Stewart Island home, later joined by a girl who can’t get enough of the place (and could see that the blokes needed some wrangling!). 

We chose to do things the way they do down here - authentic, no bullshit, not always the easy road - but always the worthwhile one. Distilling and bottling on the Island were recommended against - the logistics of making great spirits in such an isolated place are complicated at best. But this is where the magic happens, and we want our customers to feel that in every glass.

“We’ve worked hard to perfect our blend of botanicals from the island's pristine rainforest," says Dave Patterson, head distiller.

“We are blessed with the purest rainfall on the planet and when you combine that with locally foraged manuka, rimu and horopito, you really do get a taste of Rakiura, Stewart Island in every sip.”
